SW2 Creative is a London-based bag studio producing overprinted, tailored and bespoke textile bags for brands, charities, galleries and museums - for people who care how things look and how they’re made.
We specialise in bags that sit comfortably between design, function and responsibility: well-made products with clear provenance, realistic lead times and no unnecessary noise.
Our bags are produced with long-term manufacturing partners with deep expertise in jute and cotton. Core styles carry Cocobagh labels, linked to a community initiative supporting marginalised women in rural East India through steady work and skills training. Overprinting is handled in the UK with printers we know and trust.
Where a brief calls for something different, a specific material, finish or technique, we'll work with alternative suppliers. The principle remains the same: we know who we are working with, how they operate, and we are open with you about where and how your bags are made.
SW2 Creative is built on nearly two decades of experience working between UK buyers and Indian factories, delivering bag and packaging ranges for independent retailers, cultural institutions and social enterprises. The focus now is deliberately narrower and simpler: good bags, made fairly, with clear information on cost, timing and what is realistically achievable. If something cannot be done within your budget or deadline, we would rather say so early than overpromise.
Alongside the bag studio, SW2 Creative supports a small number of organisations with partnerships and income development, including Selvedge Magazine and Symphony Collective. The same principles run through all our work: decent work, long-term relationships and clear communication.
We don’t claim perfection. We believe in transparency, continuity and buying from people you know. That’s how supply chains improve - not through slogans, but through relationships that last.
Founder
SW2 Creative was founded by James Hayward, who has spent nearly two decades working between UK buyers and Indian factories, developing bag and packaging ranges for independent retailers, cultural institutions and heritage brands.
Having worked inside global supply chains, including long-term production in India - James set up SW2 to work more deliberately: fewer products, clearer information, and longer-term relationships with the people who make them.
SW2 reflects that approach: practical, transparent, and built on trust rather than volume.
